The research objective is to analyse the individual and social factors associated with delinquency in adolescent offenders in Ecuador. The research was based on a review of academic literature and 11 articles published in journals specialised in law, psychology and social sciences. The individual and social factors associated with delinquency among adolescent offenders in Ecuador encompass a variety of dimensions, from the influence of addictions and child abuse to social exclusion and the lack of effective socio-educational measures. Together, these elements contribute to the formation of delinquent behaviour, exacerbated by the lack of an educational and rehabilitative approach in the juvenile penal system. The research suggests that it is necessary not only to strengthen prevention and social reintegration policies, but also to comprehensively address the underlying causes, such as poverty, dysfunctional family environment and the neurological development of adolescents.
