Violence against women and its influence on the family relationship [Violencia contra la mujer y su influencia dentro del vínculo familiar]

Violence against women is a phenomenon of global concern that not only affects physical and psychological integrity, but also has profound repercussions on the cohesion and stability of the family unit. This article aims to analyse violence against women and its influence within the family unit from a comparative perspective. Nineteen academic articles published between 2020 and 2024 were selected. Violence against women in the family represents a persistent and multifaceted problem that transcends cultural and social boundaries, affecting not only the direct victims, but also the integrity of the entire family unit. Despite advances in some regulatory frameworks, such as VAWA in the United States, the studies reviewed show that the legal and social response continues to be ineffective in eradicating this phenomenon, especially in contexts of greater socioeconomic vulnerability, as seen in Ecuador, Tunisia and Afghanistan.
