Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the etiological factors, diagnosis, and treatment for permanent canine transposition. Method: The literature was selected through a search of electronic databases. The keywords used were: Evaluation, treatment, teeth, transmigration. The search was restricted to articles in English, Spanish, and Portuguese published between 2013 and 2025. Results: After applying the inclusion criteria, a total of 19 articles were obtained and reviewed. A narrative review was performed. Conclusion: The available literature revealed the main factors that could trigger an anomaly in tooth position, as well as the appropriate diagnostic methods for a precise analysis and, above all, for early detection in order to facilitate the development of a treatment protocol based on decision-making regarding the best alternatives, depending on the degree of complexity of the tooth transposition.
