Evaluación del uso de corticotomías en pacientes adultos con tratamiento de ortodoncia. Revisión narrative [Evaluation of the use of corticotomies in adult patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Narrative review]

Objetivo: Evaluar el uso de corticotomías en pacientes adultos sometidos a tratamiento de ortodoncia como una medida terapéutica para acelerar los movimientos dentales. Método: Revisión narrativa. Los artículos analizados se seleccionaron mediante una búsqueda exhaustiva en las bases de datos electrónicas: Pubmed, Lilacs, Springer, Scielo, Web of science, Proquest y Google Academic. En la búsqueda se incluyó a artículos en inglés, español y francés publicados desde el año 2014 hasta el año 2025. Resultados: Tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión se revisaron un total de 28 artículos. La revisión se centró en la aplicación de las corticotomías en pacientes adultos con tratamiento ortodóntico. Conclusión: La evidencia científica respalda la eficacia de las corticotomías para inducir la aceleración del movimiento dentario, llegando a reducir entre 6 y 8 meses el tiempo total del tratamiento en comparación con un tratamiento ortodóntico convencional.
