Occlusal therapies in the management of temporomandibular disorders [Terapias oclusales en el manejo de trastornos temporomandibulares]

Objective: to analyse occlusal therapies in the management of temporomandibular disorders. Method: systematic review. Results: 15 scientific articles were reviewed. Conclusion: Occlusal therapies represent a key tool in the management of temporomandibular disorders, especially highlighting the use of splints as a non-invasive and effective approach to alleviate symptoms such as pain and jaw dysfunction. However, current evidence shows that the relationship between occlusion and TMD remains complex and subject to debate, underlining the importance of an interdisciplinary and personalised approach to treatment.
