Higiene de Manos: Guía científica para la seguridad del paciente y el control de infecciones [Hand Hygiene: A Scientific Guide for Patient Safety and Infection Control]

Objetivo: desarrollar una guía clínica basada en la evidencia sobre las mejores prácticas de higiene de manos. Metodología: revisión sistemática de 58 documentos científicos. Resultados: Establecieron un conjunto de pautas eficaces para implementar programas de higiene de manos, fomentando su cumplimiento y minimizando la transmisión de microorganismos en los hospitales, con el objetivo de garantizar una atención más segura y de calidad para los pacientes. Conclusión: La higiene de manos juega un papel clave en la prevención de la transmisión de infecciones causadas por virus, bacterias y otros patógenos, tanto en hospitales como en la comunidad. Su correcta implementación, junto con la supervisión constante de las medidas de bioseguridad, ayuda a disminuir considerablemente la aparición de infecciones.
