Abstract

Objective: Design a central venous catheter care protocol for nurses based on patient safety standards and complication prevention. Methodology: Systematic review of 43 scientific documents. Results: To reduce the risk of complications associated with the use of central venous catheters, it is essential to adhere to the established protocol, applying strict aseptic measures both during placement and maintenance, as well as implementing effective strategies for infection prevention. Conclusion: This protocol promotes optimised care, reinforces patient safety and consolidates the application of clinical practices based on scientific evidence.
