Abstract

Objective: to analyse resin-reinforced glass ionomers as an alternative for restorations in deciduous teeth. Method: systematic review of 16 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: Resin-modified glass-ionomer cements (RMGIC) represent a valuable alternative for restorations in deciduous teeth, especially in the context of paediatric dentistry. Their unique combination of improved mechanical properties, chemical adhesion to dental tissues and sustained fluoride release favourably positions them against other restorative materials.
