Combined hormonal contraceptives as a method of family planning in adolescents [La andropausia en la salud pública. Revisión sistemática]

Objective: To analyse andropause in public health from a systematic review. Method: Systematic review of 16 articles. Results and conclusion: The results reveal a prevalence of 30-40% in men over 60 years of age, with physical, psychological and sexual manifestations that substantially affect quality of life. Significant diagnostic barriers are identified, including symptomatic heterogeneity, absence of universal criteria and sociocultural stigmatisation. Effective interventions include lifestyle modifications, specific educational programmes, and selective hormone therapies. The emerging concept of ‘couplepause’ offers an innovative relational perspective. It is concluded that andropause is a growing health challenge that requires greater visibility, specific research, and the development of care programmes tailored to the particular needs of the ageing male population.
