Abstract

Objective: Design a protocol for peripheral line insertion as an innovative guide for safe and efficient care. Method: PRISMA systematic review. Thirty articles were processed as the final population, located in databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science. Results: It is important for healthcare professionals to focus more on generating research on peripheral venous catheterisation and its possible complications, as this will enable better quality standards in healthcare to be achieved and allow professionals to remain trained and up to date with the latest scientific evidence required for this procedure.
