Abstract

Objective: to describe the isolation process for multidrug-resistant microorganisms and its impact on the quality of nursing care. Method: PRISMA systematic review, a total of 16 articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected. Conclusion: Evidence suggests that compliance with contact precautions varies considerably, affecting the effectiveness of these measures, while the negative psychological impact on patients, such as anxiety and depression, underlines the need for more humanized nursing care, the complexity of certain pathogens, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, requires a dynamic adaptation of isolation strategies.
