Comprehensive reparation in criminal matters in the Ecuadorian justice system [Reparación integral en materia penal en el sistema de justicia ecuatoriano]

The objective of this research is to analyse the process of comprehensive reparation in criminal matters in the Ecuadorian justice system. A descriptive methodology was used, focusing on the analysis of 15 scientific articles that address various dimensions of comprehensive reparation, with a particular focus on its application in cases of crimes of a sexual nature, gender violence, femicide, and crimes against property. Comprehensive reparation in the Ecuadorian legal context, although recognised and supported by a robust normative framework, faces significant challenges in its practical implementation, which compromises the effectiveness of the protection of victims' rights. The lack of consistency in the application of established standards, together with deficiencies in the attention to victims of specific crimes such as gender-based violence and sexual crimes, highlights the urgent need for structural reforms in the judicial system.
