Abstract

Objective: To determine through scientific review the behavior of gallbladder lithiasis in female patients to improve care, management and prognosis protocols of this pathology. Method: Qualitative and quantitative, non-experimental, analytical and descriptive research through review of 52 scientific articles on gallbladder lithiasis in female patients. Results: It was demonstrated that gallbladder lithiasis presents more frequent behavior in female patients globally due to female sex hormones. The behavior during contraception, pregnancy and substitutive therapy in menopause was specifically established. Prevalence reaches up to 51% in Scandinavian women aged 77-78 years and 44% in Chilean women over 20 years. Conclusions: The behavior of gallbladder lithiasis is more frequent in female patients worldwide due to hormonal fluctuation, especially estrogens, emphasizing the need to determine the course of this pathology to reduce complications and costs in public health.
