Knowledge, attitudes and practices of healthcare personnel in response to COVID-19 [Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas del personal sanitario ante COVID-19]

Objective: Systematically examine the available evidence regarding healthcare workers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding COVID-19. Method: Systematic review of scientific publications published between 2020 and 2021 in recognised medical science databases. Observational research, systematic reviews, and studies on knowledge assessment, diagnostic technologies, and pathogenic mechanisms of the virus were included. Results: Healthcare workers' knowledge fluctuated considerably depending on geographical location and pandemic period. Intense emotional distress, inadequate use of personal protective equipment, and initial ignorance of transmission routes were observed. Rapid development of molecular and serological diagnostic tools was identified, facilitating early case identification. Conclusions: Knowledge, attitudes, and practices varied significantly according to geographical context, stage of the pandemic, and level of professional training. A gap persists between theoretical knowledge and the practical implementation of preventive measures.
