Objective: To analyse the evaluation of the teratogenic profile of antiemetics in early pregnancy. Method: systematic review. Results and conclusion: The available scientific evidence supports that metoclopramide can be considered safe for the treatment of nausea and vomiting during the first trimester of pregnancy. Large cohort studies and prospective follow-ups have not demonstrated an association with major congenital malformations or significant adverse effects on foetal development. Therefore, metoclopramide is a valid therapeutic option when symptomatic control is necessary and conservative measures have proven insufficient.
