Objective: To analyse the links between personality and therapeutic behaviour in terms of adherence to medical treatment. Method: Literature review in PubMed, Scielo, Medline and Google Scholar of publications from 2019 to 2025 on personality and therapeutic adherence in chronic diseases and psychiatric disorders. Results and conclusion: POCUS is a valuable diagnostic tool in the management of pneumonia complicated by pleural effusion. Its systematic incorporation into clinical practice reinforces a more accurate, safe and patient-centred diagnostic and therapeutic strategy, optimising therapeutic decision-making and reducing procedural complications.
