Objective: to make a comparison between conventional gingivectomy and laser gingivectomy. Method: systematic review of 19 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: It is concluded that both conventional and laser-assisted gingivectomy are effective techniques for the management of various periodontal and aesthetic conditions, but they present significant differences in terms of clinical and operative results. Laser-assisted gingivectomy stands out for its precision, shorter healing time, superior haemostatic control and better aesthetic results, making it a preferred option in complex or aesthetic cases. However, the conventional technique remains a reliable and accessible alternative, especially in contexts where technological resources are limited.
