Objective: To analyse the postoperative complications in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery. Method: systematic review of a population of 39 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: The systematic analysis of postoperative complications in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery reveals a complex panorama where skeletal stability, condylar position and respiratory function emerge as fundamental aspects for therapeutic success. Therefore, there is a clear need for personalised protocols that consider individual anatomical characteristics, especially in patients with complex conditions such as cleft lip and palate.
