Objective: to analyse the ethical and legal aspects of assisted dying. Method: Systematic review. Results and conclusion: In Ecuador, although euthanasia is not legalised, palliative care represents a fundamental alternative for alleviating the suffering of patients with advanced diseases. As the debate on assisted dying continues, it is essential to consider both the ethical aspects and the individual needs of patients, ensuring that all decisions are made with the utmost care and compassion for human dignity.
