Objective: to analyse the prevention of vertical transmission of the hepatitis B virus. Method: systematic review of 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: The prevention of vertical transmission of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) requires a comprehensive approach that combines antiviral prophylaxis in pregnant women with high viral load, immediate neonatal vaccination and the administration of specific anti-HBV immunoglobulin (HBIG), complemented by systematic prenatal screening programmes. These strategies have proven highly effective in reducing mother-to-child transmission; however, their implementation faces challenges related to accessibility to health services.
