Abstract

Objective: to analyze Streptococcus Mutans as a means of oral injury and defense. Method: Systematic population-based review of 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: Tooth whitening is a widely used procedure in esthetic dentistry, with effective short-term results, but whose long-term stability depends on factors such as patient habits, diet, smoking and maintenance strategies. Although in-office treatments offer faster and more predictable results, at-home treatments represent an affordable alternative, although they require more commitment.
