Objective: analyze how the principles of Watson's theory of human care have been applied in surgical care. Method: Systematic review. Results and conclusion: The application of the principles of Jean Watson's theory of human care in surgical care has proven to be an essential approach to humanizing nursing care, allowing for a comprehensive approach to the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of patients. The studies reviewed show that this theory not only improves clinical outcomes, but also strengthens the therapeutic relationship between nurses, patients and their families, promoting an environment of transpersonal and empathetic care. However, its implementation faces challenges such as the lack of specific training in Watson's principles and the cultural differences that can influence its application.
