Abstract

The promotion of pre-reading and reading comprehension skills in early childhood education is a fundamental process for the cognitive and linguistic development of students. The aim is to analyse the promotion of pre-reading and reading comprehension skills in early childhood education through the use of pictograms. The review of 14 scientific articles allowed us to identify recurrent patterns and approaches in the use of pictograms and in the development of teaching skills. Knowledge of educational neuroscience is essential to understand how these visual tools activate language neural networks in students. Assessing reading maturity and collaborating with families to strengthen the reading environment at home are also crucial competences, enabling continuity between school and family learning. Likewise, pictograms facilitate educational inclusion, allowing students of diverse abilities to access education in an equitable manner.
