Cuaderno de enfermería. Revista científica, following the policies of good editorial practice for the publication of scientific journals, agrees that the ‘author’ of a published article is a person who has contributed significantly intellectually and methodologically to the construction of the manuscript.

In order to externalise editorial transparency and the significant contribution of each ‘author’ in the publication of the scientific article, the degree of contribution made in the achievement of the manuscript must be stated. This section should be written after the conclusion, under the heading: ‘Authorship contribution’.

After the title, in a paragraph, the name and surname of the ‘author’ should be indicated, followed by the contribution made. Then, with the next ‘author’, until all the ‘authors’ have been listed, once all the authors have been listed, the common points of work, if any, should be stated.

The list of authors should include only those persons who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work. Having helped to collect data or having participated in a technique are not in themselves sufficient criteria to appear as an author. The author of an article must have participated in a relevant way in its conception and development, such that he or she can assume responsibility for the contents and, likewise, must agree with the definitive version of the article. In general, to appear as an author, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Having participated in the conception and design, or in the acquisition of data, or in the analysis and interpretation of the data of the work that has resulted in the article in question, and
  2. Having participated in the writing of the text and in any revisions, and
  3. Having approved the version that is finally going to be published.
