Abstract

Objective: to analyze compassion fatigue and satisfaction in oncology nurses. Method: systematic review, population of 15 articles. Conclusion: compassion fatigue in oncology nurses is a complex challenge that is influenced by factors such as work overload, emotional demands and lack of resources in high-demand settings. Despite this, compassion satisfaction also plays a relevant role, especially when nurses are able to align with their professional values and receive adequate organizational support. Implementing strategies that promote a healthier work environment, along with specialized training and ethical commitment, are essential to mitigate the effects of burnout and improve overall staff well-being, which in turn positively impacts the quality of care provided to patients.
