Abstract

Objective: to describe humanized care and patient-centered communication. Method: systematic review, population of 30 articles. Conclusion: Research has shown that humanized care and patient-centered communication are essential elements in improving both quality of care and patient and family satisfaction in critical care settings. Nonpharmacologic interventions, such as reducing physical restraints and involving the family in the care process, not only optimize the patient's physical and emotional well-being, but also foster an ethical and caring environment.
