Adequate visitation rights for children of women deprived of their liberty [Derechos a la adecuada visita de los hijos de mujeres privadas de libertad]

The objective of the research is to analyze the rights to adequate visitation of the children of women deprived of liberty in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas in Ecuador. The research from a methodological point of view was developed under a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews, two informants were selected. This situation can generate feelings of abandonment, insecurity and isolation in children, affecting their emotional development and their ability to establish healthy emotional bonds. Likewise, forced separation can have repercussions on their social development, exposing them to stigmatization, school difficulties and a rupture in the family structure that leaves them in situations of vulnerability. In this context, visits by children to their mothers in prisons become an essential mechanism to mitigate the effects of separation and preserve the emotional bond.
