Abstract

The objective of the research was to analyze the effectiveness of protection measures in domestic violence in families in Ibarra - Ecuador. The study was designed with a mixed approach that integrated qualitative and quantitative methodology. Based on the analysis of interviews, five key categories were identified: i) respect for the mechanisms for issuing protection measures, ii) rights recognized for victims, iii) procedures for issuing protection measures, iv) protection of victims' rights, and v) legal gaps and limitations. Mistrust of the judicial system was identified by 45.2% of respondents as the main barrier, followed by social stigma and economic dependence on the aggressor. From a criminal perspective, it is imperative to strengthen procedural and administrative mechanisms that guarantee effective protection, prioritizing not only the issuance of protection measures, but also their enforcement and continuous monitoring.
